Tony Denison of The Closer, Gives A Shout Out to US Veterans
Anthony Denison of The Closer and Major Crimes came to the GBK MTV Movie Awards Gifting Suite to claim some great swag bags of gifts for his favorite charity The Sunshine Kids.
Tony was having fun and couldn’t do enough to try and help the cause he cares so much about.
When I asked Tony about doing a shout out… as soon as I said the word Vet he said “Whatever you want!”. Tony your a class act… Thank You. – JW
While he was at John Hancock, he also pursued his acting career, starring in several stage productions in the New Paltz, New Yorklocale. His stage surname “Denison” was taken from his friend Jan Denison during his days as an actor and director at a nonprofit theater in the late 1970s. Tony also ran a poker club in the early 1980s on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
Afterwards he starred and guest-starred in several crime movies and television programs, notably Wiseguy (in which he portrayed undercover agent John Henry Raglin), City of Hope (1991), The Amy Fisher Story (1993, as Joey Buttafuco), Getting Gotti (1994, as John Gotti), Criminal Passion (1994), and head coach Mike George in ESPN‘s drama series Playmakers. He was to appear on Charmed as the father of the main characters in the first season, but the part was recast with James Read.
Watch for Major Crimes coming soon on TNT starring Mary McDonnell who I so enjoyed in Battlestar Gallactica. – JW
