Chaka Khan Legendary Singer and Composer, 10 Time Grammy Winner at GBK for the American Music Awards

Chaka Khan talks to us about her two foundations and the causes she supports.

While covering the GBK Gifting Suite for the American Music Awards at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. Chaka Khan talked to us about her two foundations.

Chaka has supported Autism in the past and now is helping kids and the troubled in New Orleans.

It is not over in New Orleans, as the country got hit with with one of the worst economic breakdowns of all time, New Orleans was not quite over the devastating blow it took from hurricane Katrina.

As a past resident of New Orleans myself, I have a special place in my heart for that wonderful city. Thank you Chaka for all you do. – JW

Chaka Khan (born Yvette Marie Stevens; March 23, 1953), frequently known as the Queen of Funk, is a 10-time Grammy Award winning American singer and composer who gained fame in the 1970s as the frontwoman and focal point of the funk band Rufus. While still a member of the group in 1978, Khan embarked on a successful solo career. Her signature hits, both with Rufus and as a solo performer, include “Tell Me Something Good“, “Sweet Thing“, “Ain’t Nobody“, “I’m Every Woman“, “I Feel for You” and “Through the Fire“.

  1. It’s great to see legendary singer Chaka Khan! She looks great and is involved in a wonderful cause for women in New Orleans. I would not have known she is so involved had it not been for this interview with JW on Purpose! Keep on keepin on JW!
